The
Beatles
The Complete BBC Sessions Upgraded for 2004
[Purple Chick 10CDs + 1CD-Rom]
Ten discs of pretty
much the best moments of the Beatles' career PLUS a CD-ROM* featuring
scans, recording information, interview MP3s and more. Hits, killer covers,
witty repartee and lots, lots more.
As you can see, this
has been culled from multiple sources (some previously unavailable) in
order to give you the best quality. Everything has been checked, rechecked
and checked once more. Those particular tracks that appeared on the official
EMI release actually appear here but from a different source - they are
not sourced from the official releases.
All tracks were cleaned
up and speed checked. Here are the sources from which Purple Chick compiled
their essential edition:
bbc trailer = The
Beatles Broadcast Collection Trailer (Yellow Dog)
beeb
= The Beatles At The BEEB (BEEB Transcription Records)
broadcasts
= Broadcasts (Circuit Records)
deflating =
Deflating The Mythology (no label)
filler beebs
= Attack Of The Filler Beebs (Silent Sea)
great dane
= The Complete BBC Sessions (Great Dane)
masterfraction
= Radio Sessions 1962-65 (Masterfraction)
pyramid = The
Beatles At The BEEB (Pyramid)
unbooted =
unique (originally, at least) to Purple Chick
yellow dog
= At The Beeb (Yellow Dog)
The BBC sessions
first emerged in a comprehensive13 LP set in 1988 - The Beatles At The
BEEB. Then they appeared again when digital audio discs arrived in the
early 90s. But it wasnt until 1994 that a comprehensive CD
collection was made - Great Danes The Complete BBC Sessions [9CDs].
Later it was surpassed when the fans at Purple Chick put out The Complete
BBC Sessions Upgraded [10CDs + 1 CD ROM] using CD-Rs.
This set was copied
and manufactured on silver discs by Secret Trax who called their copy
of the Purple Chick set, The Ultimate BBC Sessions 1962-1966. Secret Trax
did not include the CD-ROM in their boxset.
In 2004, Purple Chick
took the time and effort to update their previous effort in order to remain
the definitive BBC collection. They wouldn't have done it if it wasn't
a worthwhile upgrade.
Enjoy!!!
