Beatles - Stereo Get Back Sessions [Big L Productions 7CD] Recorded at Apple Studios, London, Jan 27 1969. The sessions ended Jan 31. Songs covered on Jan 27 include Old Brown Shoe, Let It Be, Long And Winding Road, Get Back. As every Beatlefan knows the Get Back sessions were filmed and the entire month's recording was simultaneously recorded on two Nagra mono reel-to-reel recorders with overlap to ensure that every second was recorded. The Stereo Get Back Sessions "uses the two mono Nagra recordings from cameras A & B, [for] these 'stereo' recordings. The stereo space produced by these two mono recordings often is stationary, but at times moves as the camera/ microphone crew moved and shifted their locations during the sessions." Ex SBD stereo. The Beatles - The Complete John Barrett's Master Cassette Tapes [no label 6CDs] "In the past every Barrett tapes set were imperfect… because the person with the original tapes decided to manipulate, edit and fade them, and piece-meal slightly different versions out to many bootleggers… pissing off collectors… This boxset is including all the songs of the Barrett tapes. The master is made and for sale by the collectors at the Beatlefest." This new 2005 set described on the cover as "made in Brasileira" is supposedly limited to 500 copies and that it is taken from Barrett's own 15 cassettes. But there is a caveat on the cover art as well: "A correspondent reports that blank Abbey Road Studios cassette cards were being offered for sale at the Chicago Beatlesfest by a European dealer. This raises the possibility that we're dealing with games within games here, and that the Barrett cassette box, themselves have been forged." Ex SBD stereo. I've no idea what to believe but definitely not worth throwing money here, just trade for this.

The Beatles U.S. Millennium Remasters 12CD set

The Beatles U.S. Collection of mono and stereo albums are taken from Capitol releases. There are only twelve titles. There are no major differences between the U.S. and U.K. albums beyond Magical Mystery Tour - Thus this set ends with that title.

Source material was SEALED and UNPLAYED Capitol vinyl releases resulting in masters with clarity equal to tape. The best professional equipment was used for the transfers: a LINN SONDEK LP 12 turntable with a MICRO BENZ cartidge and a LINN LK 1 phono preamp.

The first set of tracks are in mono followed by the same set of tracks in stereo.

Copied from original MFSL vinyl copies, most of them sealed and played for the first time. This is likely to be the B Series which means it was copied from the A Series CDRs. Here is some info:

The Digital Vinyl Audiophile Collection (DVAC) began as a closed audiophile project in 2001. It is not a duplication or derivation of the fake MFSL collection printed in Italy and Japan. The DVAC discs are true direct-LP recordings and capture about 90% of the fidelity and 'feel' of pristine MFSL vinyl pressings (the other 10% being lost--or altered--in the digital domain). Moreover, this collection addresses some of the sound-level and artifact problems that persist on virtually all the official CDs, tapes and records. For instance, the new DVAC-4B disc is the first to present the original master recording of Run For Your Life without the "thump" noise.

First, the original DVAC project (A-Series) relied on high-quality pressings (some of which were sealed prior to recording) that could be captured directly with little or no noise. Second, all aspects of the recording and copying involved quality audio components; the original analogue material was never compromised by software filters or home computer equipment. With the exception of Please Please Me, all titles were recorded using the shortest and cleanest signal path possible: phono stage to CD recorder. The result is a "permanent" near-mint collection of rare audiophile recordings.

The Mobile Fidelity LPs used to produce the A-series master discs were solid examples of mint and mint-minus JVC-Japan pressings. In fact, the DVAC discs boast reference quality sound for the three most admired Beatles albums: The sources for Abbey Road and Revolver were virgin (prior sealed) pressings, while the source for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was an equally pristine UHQR pressing! Only rarely throughout this collection can you hear a soft click through loudspeakers. With headphones, inherent vinyl noise and hiss from the original master tapes are more prominent, but seldom offensive.

The new B-Series project exploits the digital format and success of the first collection. The digital master tracks were extracted to computer, de-clicked and/or edited *only* if necessary, and then burned onto new master discs. This supplemental stage improved the intertrack quality of the play discs, and it eliminated the few audible clicks that were captured in the original project. It does not appear that any bit errors were introduced by the two additional copy stages (one read, one write).

The Digital Vinyl Audiophile Collection omits The Beatles (White Album) because the quality and fidelity of the 1998 CD re-issue is already excellent. The digital re-issue of Yellow Submarine sounds even better, but was partially used here to produce a superior 'original' album. For the other 10 titles, the best high-fidelity stereo sound is still limited to select vinyl pressings; hence this collection.

* The trader who offered me the set included the Beatles White Album as a 2CD set. But according to the info about the DVAC set, the White Album was omitted. The trader also said his copies were silver discs pressed in Japan. There is a possibility that my copies are not the famous DVAC set.
