深水埗(シャムスイポー)にある美荷樓（メイホーハウス）について紹介します。

オシャレなカフェやショップがあるので深水埗(シャムスイポー)の散策をされる方にも大変おすすめです。

美荷楼とは

美荷樓（メイホーハウス）とは石硤尾（セクキプメイ）という団地の一部の建物の名前です。香港の団地は同じ団地内でも建屋によって名前があります。

石硤尾は元々は古い長屋だったのですが、1953年に大規模な火災のあと、翌年の1954年に29棟のコンクリート住宅が建設されました。その中で現在でも残っているのが美荷樓です。

◆火災の背景

当時、第二次国共内戦の前後だったこともあり、中国大陸から多数の難民が香港に流入して、九龍北部の山辺に木造のバラックを建てて住むようになっていました。

その木造住宅地区では、しばしば火災が発生しており、住民は火事の際に逃げ延びる備えを色々としており、大規模火災でも死者は数名しかでていないようです。

美荷楼には入って左側にミニ博物館のようなスペースがあります。

かつての住民の話をもとに作っていて、1950～1970年代の石硤尾団地の歴史を紹介しています。

英語でも説明書きがあるので団地の歴史を知るのにはとても勉強になりました。

かつての集合住宅をリノベーションしたゲストハウスです。香港住宅が好きな方にとても人気です。

格安のドミトリーもあれば、ツインなどの個室の部屋もあります。

※2019年10月現在で見るとドミトリーはかなり安いですが、個室は700ドル(約1万円)でした。この時期は他のホテルもとても安いので、安さを求めるなら別のホテルのほうがいいかもしれません。

奥に入るとレストランカフェがあります。

カフェの名前は「美荷冰室（ Mei Ho Cafe）」です。

ここのカフェ何度か名前変わっていますが、以前とほぼほぼ同じです。（呼吸冰室→四十一冰室→美荷冰室）

中はレトロな造りで週末も平日もランチはいつも空いています。

意外とごはんもちゃんとしていてそこらの下手なお店よりも断然美味しいです。

値段も安いしごはんも美味しいしソファ席もたくさんあるし、かなりゆっくりできる環境だと思います。

昔の香港で使われていたグッズがたくさん置いています。

ダサ可愛いものが多くてついつい買いすぎ注意です。
